Trefethen Family Vineyards

Tags:

Trefethen Family Vineyards was originally purchased by the family of the same name, after family patriarch Gene made his fortune as part of the Kaiser health care company. Sitting on the site of the historic Eschol Winery the estate now holds the record for both the largest contiguous vineyard in Napa Valley (something around 550 acres) as well as the largest Riesling planting anywhere in America. With production levels sitting at around seventy thousand cases of wine per year and all of that being produced with estate grown grapes, you can get some sort of idea about the massive size of the farm involved. Wether you’re an avid wine club member or just a casual wine drinker, finding a wine from Trefethen Family Vineyards is an interesitng experience. For one reason or another they have not reveived the same type of wide distribution afforded to many of their contemporaries, which is unfortunate given quality levels.
